12 Biggest Oscar Snubs

This year’s Academy Award nominations were released this morning. As is the case every year, the Academy left out several key performances and films. The Lonely Petunia has compiled a list of the 12 biggest snubs for the 87th Academy Awards.

1.  David Oyelowo

Did not receive a Best Actor nomination for his role in Selma, most likely because most people have never heard of Martin Luther King.

2.  Amy Adams

The Academy failed to nominate Amy Adams for her role in Big Eyes because everyone thought it was just another boring documentary about the cutthroat optometrist industry.

3.  Dumb and Dumber To

Critics agree that not giving this amazing film a nomination will go down as the worst Oscar snub of all time.

4.  Jennifer Aniston

Was not nominated for her role in Cake, but Angelina Jolie’s Unbroken got a few nominations because the world is against Jennifer Aniston.

5.  Clint Eastwood

Did not receive his 12^th Oscar nomination as director of American Sniper as it has long been documented that the Academy is severely afraid of the number 12.

6.  The Lego Movie

Was not nominated for Best Animated Film, but it sure did make a shit ton money through, which is also great.

7.  Jake Gyllenhaal

The Academy didn’t nominate Jake for his role in Nightcrawler because they also didn’t nominate his sister Maggie for her role in The Honorable Woman and they didn’t want things to be weird for the siblings at family gatherings.

8.  Meryl Streep

Surprisingly, the admirable Ms. Streep was only nominated for a supporting role this year.

9.  Definitely, Maybe

For the seventh year in a row, the Academy decided not to give a Best Picture nomination to this heartfelt romantic comedy starring Ryan Reynolds and Abigail Breslin.

10.  Robert Duvall

Mr. Duvall did snag a nomination for his role in The Judge, but he will be snubbed at the ceremony when the Academy gives the Oscar to one of the living nominees.

11.  Mandell Winter

Can you fucking believe that Mandell didn’t get nominated for Best Sound Editor for his pitch perfect work in The Equalizer?! What the fuck is going on? What is the world fucking coming to? Fuck you Academy! Fuck you!

12.  Daniel Day-Lewis

The Academy decided to pass on Daniel Day Lewis as he, yet again, did not make a movie.
