12-Year-Old: SNL Not As Good As It Used To Be

CANTON, OH—After watching this past week’s Saturday Night Live hosted by Charlize Theron, local 12-year-old Charlie Gatton reiterated his long-held belief that the weekly sketch show just isn’t as good as it used to be. “Don’t get me wrong—I think the show is funny, but it’s just not like the old days,” said Mr. Gatton, who was born in 2002 and started watching the show in 2011 when stars Kristen Wiig, Bill Hader, and Jason Sudeikis “actually made [Chris] laugh.” The 7th grader at West Canton Middle School added that the Weekend Update hosts Cecily Strong and Colin Jost simply can’t hold a candle to “those classic hosts” Seth Meyers and Cecily Strong from years past. Further, the pre-teen believes that the writing of the show, now in its 39th season and one of the longest running television shows in history, has really taken a turn for the worse since about his 10th birthday. With the season finale airing this weekend, Mr. Gatton also couldn’t help but feel that next season probably won’t be as good as this past one.
